WHY PIROUSSURFBOARDS

When I first stepped on a board, I knew it was my
destiny and surfing would always be part of my life.
I became a true addict, even taking the bus for 1,5
hours to get to the beach when I was a kid. Later on,
I competed and then, through my first own
surfboard repairs, came to the guild craftsmanship
of surfboards. Steady optimization of the surfing
experience and adaptation of new technologies and

tendencies while always having in mind the fun,
journey and adventure of each individual is what
drives me in my work. That’s why I build the boards
of the cactus, to develop and produce boards for
you with dedication, passion, attention to detail and
a little bit of “pirous” – of going nuts with the board.

ABOUT

Our head shaper, Wendel “Pirous” Barros, sums 26
years of experience building surfboard. He worked
in all of the stages and phases of the construction
process and throughout a variety of Brazilian and
European surfboard factories. While initiating in
Brazil’s northeast back then he knew he needed to
go south to where technology and processed were
advancing quick to seek more knowledge and
know-how. Here he built boards for many athletes

and worked with them on surfing development
projects – some of them entered the highest WSL
competition level. After years of professionalization, he headed to Europe to work in the biggest
European surfboard factory and entered the circle
of the world’s best, being back shaper for the most
famous brands such as Lost, Channel Island, Pukas
(Axel Lorenzo), Stretcher, Pyzel.
